Why does garageband sound bad on my PC?

Hi. My friend brought over his Macbook (unibody before they were called Pro) to my house, I plugged my guitar in, we jammed and it sounded great. So I hackintoshed but the sound didn't sound the same on my PC - it sounded worse like close to 8bit or 16bit I'd say. Is it because of my soundcard? My mobo is a Gigabyte P35 DS3R and I'm using the integrated sound card. Will a sound card upgrade improve the sound or do I have to get a Macbook to get that sound?

The sound card could only help. If you are running a lighter version of OSX who knows what.

Both machines should be using Realtek audio hardware.
