I can't be 100% sure it started after the upgrade because the days float together and I forgot when I did the upgrade. But I am certain of when the crash reports started.

Code:
$ grep 'Segmentation fault' /var/log/system.log
Feb 12 02:33:23 ihack com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[241] (com.apple.helpd[39982]): Job appears to have crashed: Segmentation fault: 11
Feb 12 09:31:41 ihack com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[241] (com.apple.helpd[40293]): Job appears to have crashed: Segmentation fault: 11
$ ls Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/helpd_2012-02-*
Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/helpd_2012-02-08-185623_ihack.crash
Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/helpd_2012-02-08-185707_ihack.crash

Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/helpd_2012-02-12-093142_ihack.crash
$ /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/HelpData.framework/Versions/A/Resources/helpd
Segmentation fault: 11

It hangs for a couple of minutes on the cli before exiting with that error and a graphical crash dialog pop-up.

I've attached the latest crash report because it made the post too long.

Today it happened once when I woke up, not counting the time I tried running it myself manually.

I had VMware fusion 3, firefox beta, Finder and iTunes running at the time. In the background, tmux, irssi, rtorrent, vim, several bash and ssh sessions.

My system is an iMac11,3 and has not been reinstalled since purchase, it was upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion at release of said version.

I am bing the same issue with helpd crashing every couple of minutes. Hopefully someone has a solution. I'm running the same 10.7.3 o's and mc813 iMac

Pleaseet us know. Hopefully this is t adversely affecting my Mac too

I have exactly the same problem

This is probably more widespread that Apple are letting on

Did you install the point update or the combo update when you upgraded from 10.7.2 to 10.7.3? If it was done via Software Update, it was the point updater.

I'd recommend installing the 10.7.3 Combo Updater and seeing if that fixes your issues.

Same problem here suddenly yesterday and today, helpd has crashed half a dozen times -- never seems to interrupt anything else. Rebooting doesn't fix.

I did install Combo 10.7.3 -- seems like time to install that again.
Did so.
No improvement.
Anyone?
