I tried to send an email using my iphone and macbook. But then the message I sent goes to the inbox in iPhone..... but they are in the sent folder in macbook..

Sweet.. at first I thought IMAP is automatic setup..
Actually I just read gmail website, I need to choose "other" when i add the account. Thanks!!

i am having this problem all of the sudden with both of my gmail accounts on my iphone. 3.0 3GS. so i deleted both accounts from the iphone and recreated them still happening. any mail i send from the iphone comes back as new mail in the inbox, but it is being sent. is this a gmail problem? i am setup as imap (confirmed by looking in the settings). help.

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Always BCC Myself -- turn that off.

It's a global Mail setting so deleting and recreating the accounts wouldn't change it. Try that.
