iPhone and iPad allow MS Exchange (i.e. work email) accounts.
No problem at all.

But Lion Mac Mail (like 10.6) doesn't support this. My work exchange emails are fine on my iOS devices-- but not compatible with my Mac OS devices.....

Anyone else have this occur? Why is this the case?

OS X supports Exchange 2010 server. iOS supports 2010 + some older version(s) of Exchange server that OS X does not. You can use IMAP in OS X to access mail from an older (2003?) Exchange server.

I am experiencing the same issue. Our IT department has this locked out, but it still works on iOS devices. I like most people do a majority of email from their PC, I'll be very interested in a solution.

The soluton depends on your your software. if your firm runs Exchange Server 2003, then you can use Microsoft Entourage 2008 (v. 12.x.x). Entourage EWS (v. 13.x.x) and Outlook 2011 require Exchange Server 2007 or later. But then, if you have Exchange Server 2007 or later, then you could just use Mail.
