I've just got a monitor for my Macbook Air - however the image just doesn't look nice. I've plugged plenty into the monitor, and it seems to be OSX that looks terrible.

I followed the collaboration guide which made it look a bit better, but it's still a disgusting image.

The text is hard to read, grey is difficult to diffrentiate. When I was doing the collaboration I noticed moving the gamma down to 1 (the lowest it would go) made it look a whole lot better, but it didn't go far enough to make the grey look grey.

Have I missed something here? Am I doing something wrong?

The monitor in question is a Acer S240HL, connected via HDMI @ 1080p 60hz

Please help! I cannot bare to look at this for long - everything is so weird!

Nope it was extended, with the monitor at 1080p and then also at the panels recommended resolution.

Really disappointed with this thing at the moment!
