While I agree with your statement, may I make an observation? Every other freaking news, tech news, site is also reporting on every little Twitter change too. It has invaded every other source that I get my news from so from my perspective, it isn’t just Macrumors.

I think Twitter is getting clicks. Lots of clicks. Good grief.

I can’t be bothered to go back to my own old news blogs analytics to see how these general news articles trend on specialized news sites but I can assure you they do NOT trend as well as relevant news of the same caliber.

And when we would post off-topic news we would get flambéed by the readers.

The way Twitter news is trending it might actually be somewhat of an inside game being played with Twitter PR and the various media outlets. For many Twitter is a significant source of traffic.

Our sites never invested in Twitter as much as Facebook. I had one site that got 60% of its traffic from Facebook for a while. That trend has since gone away and then google news became the second largest source.

Idk what Macrumors metrics are but from the way people engage With the Twitter posts it’s clear why they continue to circulate that news.

I just think it pollutes the content stream at a certain point and the short term returns may net you a lower overall appraisal on the value of your property as a specific news source.

I can tell you that after this latest flood of Twitter articles I’ve actually started to sift through other sites like 9to5 Mac etc.

And of course they’re doing the same Twitter flood. It’s just gross. LOL

Just want to say that we hear you, we're going to be pulling back on some of our Twitter coverage. We'll continue to post if it's something particularly relevant to the Twitter app, but we won't be covering Elon Musk commentary or decisions unless it's something really newsworthy.

With no new product releases after September, we haven't had a lot of Apple News, so we've fallen back on covering other content like Twitter just to make sure we have fresh news for our readers. That's one reason why it's felt like so much -- just a lack of other news for us to share. We're always listening to your feedback, and we will adjust. Please always feel free to email us at tips@macrumors.com if you have a story idea or something you would like to see us covering.

I agree with you. I left social media in 2016-2017. It just got so much about a specific someone that I saw no point in wasting my time there - even my own family was blasting me constantly with news about a specific someone. I don't care whether or not you're pro or against that specific someone, getting blasted at all hours of the day about a specific someone is going to get old FAST.

For me? I see Twitter this, Twitter that, Twitter farted, Twitter <insert here> - everywhere. And again, it's getting REALLY OLD.

Yep - same here, I tried to look elsewhere and it's ALL OVER. LOL. <sigh>. Hey, I was looking for more excuses to spend time with my new Air 5 and books :D hehe.

Much appreciated ! Thank you! ---- MR is where I spend a lot of my time (according to screen time). lol.

Let me preface this post with, I like MR.
Now go look at the Our Staff section. Why, because it tell you that a number of people depend on this site for income.
Now look at your facebook feed, ad after ad after ad and pages that may interest you, revenue drivers.
Here on MR ads put food on the table.
Elon bought and is now harvesting what was once a sacred garden of people only wanted what they wanted to hear and banned others. This is a perfect scenario for picking apart every detail of Twitter happenings, making it a story and those that have had their sacred garden broken into will gladly click and scroll away to read the, as some put it, drama.

I appreciate the consideration. I’d like to suggest the bar shouldn’t be what’s relevant to the Twitter app, but what’s relevant to Apple products. Charging different rates in the app and online, for example, fits with the discussion around Apple’s AppStore policies. The 4K character limit is relevant to the app, but not really to Apple in any way. The blue checkmark policies aren’t even app specific, but just Twitter corporate policy.

Sure, this is in essence what I mean by relevant to the Twitter app, and I agree with you. We'll be more carefully considering what we cover and will continue to listen to feedback on Twitter and other app coverage. It's easy to get wrapped up in the drama when it's everywhere in the news cycle, and we don't want to end up looking like we're not covering the pertinent news. So we really appreciate hearing from everyone.

Thank you! Thank you!

Anyway. Onwards and upwards to a relevant MacRumours without all the Musk news.

edit:
Now if I could get all my moderated posts re-instated… I mean… essentially they all said what you just admitted to. Slow news… and well, Twitter filled the gap.
I am kidding. 😁
