I've tried deleting the dashboard preferences, the widget files, basically everything dashboard-related in the library. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I'm pretty sure this happened when I tried to install and run X11)

This is not a 10.5.3 update issue unlike most other problems turning up lately... he is running Tiger.

No luck repairing permissions unfortunately, I guess there's no way to reinstall Dashboard separately from the rest of the OS? I'm stuck for ideas now
Do an Archive and Install from your Tiger DVD. Then go to system update and download all the latest updates. After that, all should be well.
