Why does my dock keep turning clear?

I have no idea when or why it happens. It just turns clear, and the killall Dock thing doesn't work. The only thing that does work is to log out and log back in.

I have been suffering from the same problem. Can seem to get any resolution. Anyone have an answer to this issue?
