When I ask Siri to play a radio station it plays it but turns my Apple TV on. When I put Apple TV back to sleep the radio channel on the homepods stop.
Is there a setting to stop Apple TV being powered on when not needed?

Have you been AirPlaying from tv to your HomePod? If so you need to disconnect them before asking HomePod to play audio. Otherwise it will turn your tv on and and the audio will play from tv and the audio will output to HomePod.
