Why does my Time Machine exclude Time Machine? pic...

I setup Time Machine and the list of items to exclude has me confused. It has listed "Time Machine HD" as a greyed-out item in the list. I've seen screenshots from others' systems and not seen this before. Any reason why it's in there?

If time machine were to try to backup itself it would go into an endless loop. My iMac shows the time machine partiton in the exclude disk when it's first setup.
