Why does Preview not support animated GIF images? Is there a plugin for it?

Oddly it used to have a play button, just open your GIF in Safari.

It does suck that animated gifs don't work in Preview or Cover Flow. That's one thing I miss when I used Windows. But as stated by Psychofreak, it's easy to drag the image to Safari.
