Ok, maybe sucks is a strong word but as of lately, it really sucks. Let me explain.

Based on what I do I'm on various websites all day doing research and reading/viewing documents. From time to time Safari will just take forever to load a page or hang. There's one particular site I go to to view plans and it will open another window and pull up the plans. Well, Safari takes a very long time to load the page and then you get what you get. If I zoom in and out on the document I'll get a blank page until it decides to refresh. Bottom line, its slow.

If I do the same thing using Chrome, its as you'd expect in regards to speed. Very fast. Once documents load I can read them, rotate, zoom in and out quickly. No issues.

So whats up with Safari? Is Apple content with a basic browser or do they one that competes with the rest.

I’d imagine most of the slowness is ad tracking taking forever to load. Install ghostery and you’ll see all the trackers that any site you visit loads, as well as being able to block them. Without these trackers websites load much faster.

Yeah, sometimes Safari just sits there pretending to load a page (iMac 2017). Doesn't matter how much I hit the refresh button.

I drop into Chrome and everything works. Then a min later, suddenly Safari thinks "Gee I can't let Chome show me up" and it decides to wake up and come to the party.
