Why does some mail appear orange?

Does anyone know why some of my email in the messenger pain appears in orange text whilst other messages are black?

I setup an exchange server yesterday and some mails show in list in orange text whilst other messages show in black. The orange is hard to read and I don't understand why there's a difference. Can anyone help explain the difference?
