If I'm home not wearing my watch or it's charging I will turn Bluetooth off to conserve battery. Every time I do this, however the watch face changes back to the default butterfly. This seems really stupid and is very irritating to have to reset it every time I want to turn off Bluetooth. Is there a workaround or solution for this?

What Series of Watch and what watchOS? I don't see that behavior on my Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) on watchOS 4.1. There is no change to my watch face. I have the Explorer Face active.

disabling bluetooth every time is probably more trouble that it's worth to save battery
Wi-fi will use more battery than bluetooth, the new versions of bluetooth are pretty energy efficient

if your watch is dying that quickly, i recommend an unpair/repair, sometimes it gets a bit wonky and that can straighten it out. this can fix battery problems, as well as other random strangeness.
(you will be able to restore from backup, and get all of your settings back)

is it possible you're doing a sideways swipe from either the extreme left or right as part of your bluetooth disable, as that will change the watch face

do you have the butterfly in your "my faces." If you don't use it, just delete it. You can add it again later if you want.
or make sure the face you use all the time is all the way to the left.

Don't turn off Bluetooth. The Watch was designed to have it always on. And seriously, how much battery would that save? Like 5 minutes a day?

It uses Bluetooth low energy. Which means the time it takes you to turn the screen on and turn it off actually uses up more energy than you save. Plus, turning Bluetooth off means it goes to wifi which will suck way more battery.

Bluetooth USED to eat battery 10 years ago but these days it uses nothing. My Bluetooth headphones can be left on in standby with Bluetooth connected and last 5 days. It's efficient. Leave it on. Enjoy your watch.
