Why does there have to be a new iPhone every year? It's not cool IMHO

Why? Because Apple is not dumb enough to let the iPhone hardware stagnate while other companies try to come out with a better product.

IMHO Apple should only release a new iPhone every 3 years. And that way they don't divide us into camps. It's like right now 3G owners wish so badly they had the faster processor and more RAM of the 3GS, and the video recording and better camera and Voice Control... But nooooo, they can't. I feel bad cuz I have the 3GS and they just have 3G.

Don't feel bad for me, and I only bought my iPhone 3G in September this year.

I weighed up the options and after trying both the 3G and 3GS extensively in the Glasgow Apple Store, I was more than happy with the speed of the 3G over both wi-fi and 3G.

Yes, the 3GS is faster at loading data and opening apps, but I genuinely laugh at the videos on YouTube by the likes of Jon4Lakers who says the iPhone 3GS is "significantly" quicker. You see him opening the same app on both phones simultaneously, and the 3GS opens the app a second sooner, if that.

Video recording/editing isn't a feature I need. I don't care for the Compass, and the £342 price tag of the 3G was easier for me to swallow than the £440 price tag of the 3GS.

I took a while coming to the decision, but I'm more than happy with my iPhone 3G.

Too many people want to waive their iPhone's around and shout, "Look what I've got" and want people to know they're using the latest device.

Me? I buy what I need, what I want others to see me with.
 
Imagine the complaints there would be from a lot of us if another company released a phone which has more features than the current iphone. O wait....:p

Anyway Apple release a new iphone every year to try and keep ahead of the competition. Look at one of there most recent news articles for the RFID chip. It has a lot of potential and Apple hopefully have the ability to make it work.

You still have a more trendy phone than a lot of other people, even though it might be dated compared to what else is out there. Just suck it up and wait until you have to renew your contract to get the lower price. Chances are that there might be something newer than the 3GS.

Yeah, that had me laughing really hard over here. This is OBVIOUSLY a TROLL. NOBODY agrees with you. Cars get newer features, upgrades, etc... most electronics get yearly upgrades, successors, etc. Get with the program we call life, dude!
