Why does Verizon constantly advertise Android?

First off I dont have concrete advertising data but from my subjective observation it seems Verizon is constantly advertising Android. Before the iPhone they used to tout their network in advertising campaigns such as 'Rule The Air'. Now its all about Android. On my commute to/from work and on nightly television they are constantly advertising Android. Especially older phones such as the Incredible which is a 10 month old phone. Is it because advertising costs are subsidized by manufacturers? Does the iPhone not need advertising? Is there higher profit margin with Android phones?

Because Android is their most popular line of phones by far.

    Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

Apple does most of the advertising themselves.

Why do you care what they advertise?

I've seen Verizon advertise the iPhone quite a bit.

Right now, the emphasis seems to be on selling out the current stock (Droid Pro, Incredible), before the next batch of LTE and bigscreen phones arrives. (Thunderbolt, Incredible 2, etc.)

Kind of like ATT advertising the $49 3GS.

Verizon and Motorola have a 100 million dollar deal to advertise Droid phones that's why.

You have it all wrong, VZW has advertized Android way before the iPhone.

I guess you didn't turn on your TV until the iPhone came to VZW

Because some consumers don't want an iphone and the fact that verizon sells android based phones. They have a vested interest in making sure that platform receives some love.

Verizon worked closely with motorola on the droid phones and the more they sell the more $$ vzw makes.
