So I go to El Salvador every year, and I don't see an apple store anywhere!!!! in the country!!!!!!,

    According to this article,

    http://gizmodo.com/240341/apple-to-latin-america-we-dont-care-about-you-compadres

"It seems that Steve Jobs, Apple's Mariachi-in-Chief, doesn't care much about Latin America other than to get his soy cheese and tofu-stuffed jalapeños. According to the argentinian correspondent for Silicon News, «buying an iPod in Latin America is almost an odyssey. The price is much more expensive than in any other part of the world, is hard to find technical support and there's almost no accessories to be found anywhere». The official prices are certainly outrageous: a 2 gigabyte iPod nano costs $328 in Brazil and $323 in Argentina, compared to $149 here. Things get even worse after the jump.

To add insult to injury, the iTunes Latino Store actually doesn't work in South America. Only people living the USA can access it. All in all, a pretty sad picture of the state of all things Apple just across the border; a state that is echoed by the opinion of users and bloggers from these countries, who feel that Apple just doesn't give a damn about them. – Jesus Diaz"

I would really love to see an apple store, in Latin America, and South America, All my buddies in these countries love ipods and iphone's!,

Now I know that their might be people saying, that the vast majority of these countries are third world countries, and a lot of piracy exist!
and that not a lot of people can afford this devices, but at least an apple store in the local international airports would be nice.:D

Has he ever tried to buy any other electronics in Argentina? Funnily enough they are also really overpriced too.

Over the border in Chile (where electronics are more reasonably priced) according to GlobalMac the 16GB iPod touch is $239'000 Chilean Pesos which when the iPod touch was released last September was around £239 (which is when it was launched which is how Apple prices their stuff, and also when I was in the country). In the UK the iPod touch costs £214, which is only slightly less.

I can see an Apple store in Santiago might well make sense.

I really don't know but it is an odyssey!:D

In the U.S an 8GB ipod touch cost $230.

When I went to El Salvador I saw one for about $350. VERY EXPENSIVE!

I don't know why people would sell them for that much, but people are taking advantage over others.

i don't know how much 214 Euros or Pounds are, but are the ipod's cheaper in the UK than the U.S?

More expensive than the US. The US is pretty cheap for electronics - probably only Hong Kong and Japan and maybe Singapore are cheaper.

    oh wow!

I guess since Apple is an american based company, things are expensive in the UK most likely since they are exported items.

There is a very simple reason for this. The stores in these countries would get ROBBED and would always be targets for robbery. It's not worth it for apple to pay heavy security ................I am from El Salvador and I can tell you that our country is full of crime and those damn gangster fools that ruin the country for us.
