They will one day , it’s pretty obvious that’s where it’s all headed , just waiting for screen tech to catch up with apples ideas
I don't think Apple will release a TV under their name. The TV business is pretty cut-throat and LG holds the patent for OLED and, as many people know, Apple doesn't like using another company's tech if they can avoid it.

You’re right. It’s not like Samsung or lg would ever make screens for iPhones.

TVs are worthwhile now because they’re smart TVs. They come with an os. Can install apps. That’s hdmi one. If you’re apple you want your OS front and center. That enables iTunes purchases. The current Apple TV doesn’t cut it. The vast majority will use what’s on the tv.

Do you believe that Apple is happy having to rely on Samsung and LG patents and manufacturing capabilities for their screens? I doubt it.

I'd rather have a dumb OLED TV over any smart OLED TV, Apple-branded or not. How many Smart TVs are stuck with dated apps and operating systems? Yes, Apple is very good with updating their OS but more advanced options require more CPU power. How many people would replace their Apple OLED to get a faster CPU inside?

I think it would be fun to watch Apple TV+ on the Apple TV app on your Apple TV, er, TV.

Apple internally built several TV prototypes. The project was nixed for the same reasons Apple stopped making computer monitor. Limited market potential.

Beyond all-in-one simplicity and beautiful design, major differentiating features over conventional smart TV were always on display and motion sensor, where the TV would immediately wake up to deliver notifications and respond to Siri requests visually. Much like Amazon and Google's smart screen speakers.

Given how minimal most TVs look these days (LG's OLED TVs are particularly beautiful in understated minimalist way), I am not sure Apple's TV would stand out all that much. While I would've loved always on display and all-in-one simplicity, would that be enough for the masses? Considering Apple TV's struggle for market share, my guess would be a solid no.

As for upgrade cycle argument, I don't think that was it. Apple is still selling Apple TV HD, released nearly 6 years ago. If Apple stuffs their TV with the best-in-class processor (e.g., M1 or A14), it would no doubt stay relevant for many more years to come.

With all due respect, but Bose has the worst, the very worst UI and connectivity of all the TV brands and that screen is definitely second rate compared to the LG OLED screens, so great that you have a bose, but for anyone else please don't buy that thing. Just buy a LG CX with a good soundbar like a normal person.
Thanks for the respect. OLED screens of that size at the time that the Videowave was available were still in the research labs. The Videowave has not been available new for years. If you hate the BOSE TV UI/remote you will absolutely hate the new Apl TV remote then as they are very similar in function. FWIW, I have been sporting a LG 65" C9 OLED for over a year now with a U guessed it, a compete BOSE 700 sound bar system. The new Apl TV/remote works great with it.
