Why doesn't Apple Pay/Cash work with iTunes/App Store

I don't get why Apple Pay/Cash doesn't work with iTunes/App Store. What am I not understanding here?

It's bad isn't it. It's likely the same reason as why iTunes, and the App Store and iTunes Store, persist in their bloated confusingness: it's been built up slowly over so long that to change anything about how it works would require starting from scratch with the whole thing. And, given the billions of dollars of transactions that go through it each month, they're terrified to change it.

Instead of bashing Apple, use some simple logic. iTunes, iCloud are repeating purchases and Apple Pay is primarily a single transaction every time. Every time I buy a song on iTunes, my card is dinged without the hassle of completing a single transaction.

Second reason is ApplePay is intended to make purchases transparent and keep your identity from the vendor. Apple already has your credit card info and knows who you are. And I am sure there are financial reasons in the way AP transactions are handled and fees involved.

Apple Pay can absolutely handle recurring charges for subscriptions (see e.g. the table of supported transaction types halfway down this page). I have a digital newspaper subscription that is charged through Apple Pay. Not to mention of course that not all iTunes purchases are "repeating charges" as one poster claimed.

I too think it would wold behoove Apple well to "eat their own dogfood" and offer Apple Pay as an option for iTunes and app store.

I concede to the point on re-occuring charges, but I am sure it has to do with Apples relationships and fees with the banks. It probably costs them less to charge your card that to use AP to charge the same card.

That's actually not true. AP transactions are cheaper because there is better security around it and reduce fraud. I think Apple just hasn't gotten around to fixing it because it's a hard/risky problem to fix.

Indeed. And every week it showed up as a transaction in apple wallet for the card I used for the apple pay purchase. I wish iTunes/App store would work with apple pay and subscriptions since it can be done.
