I can't believe how bad autocorrect has gotten, to the point that it doesn't even recognize common contractions like shouldn't and wasn't. It also rarely capitalizes. I literally had to program every one I could think of into keyboard shortcuts. Very annoying.

Works fine on my iPhone.

I can't understand why you constantly run into these problems.

Which version of iOS are you using?

No issues on my iOS devices either. Everything that should autocorrect does for me.

I don't know. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesnt. It seems random and it's hard to know when itll work properly.

Odd. I work, I believe. Let's see, well that worked what about wouldn't and couldn't? Shouldn't? Can't? Won't? Yup.

Maybe try resetting your keyboard dictionary?

8.1.1. I haven't updated bc I don't want to lose all my JB tweaks.

Sounds like something else is going on there on your device. Have you tried resetting your dictionary, as was suggested?

What's truly bad are the suggestions above the keyboard. The Safari suggestions in the black bubbles are usually right on, I guess the keyboard uses a different logic and dictionary?

The apple keyboard is absolue trash. Get SwiftKey. 1000x better.

Opinion, obviously.

Tried it, hated it, deleted it.

And SwiftKey type speed is nowhere faster than using stock Apple keyboard.
Although I still keep it on device, I rarely use it at all.

Since this turned into a thread about 3rd party keyboards, I'll throw in my 2¢. The Google keyboard for iOS is actually pretty good.

Ugh. Off topic now.
I have tried Gboard. Nothing shiny or groundbreaking in my opinion. I type nowhere faster than stock keyboard especially with all user dictionaries iOS has created so far.
And about OP post, let me see:
Wouldn't (I type "wouldnt ", similar as follows)
Couldn't
Can't
Don't
Won't
We've
They're
We're
They've
Pretty much every single one can be corrected correctly.
I am using iOS 10 so I believe Apple has done some great improvements on typing using stock keyboard, at least for this part.

Really?? The predictive text is night and day better than what the apple keyboard offers.

Well, I had issues using that keyboard with third party apps, and I gave a good amount of time to try Apple stock keyboard.
Then I found Apple stock keyboard worked pretty well. My typing speed was actually faster than on SwiftKey. Adding with those issues I found, I gave up using SwiftKey at all.

I don't see any issues on my phone either and I'm on iOS 9.3.2. Definitely worth trying to reset the keyboard dictionary.

How can you possibly deduce that?

Because multiple other people have been able to type out the contractions without an issue.

Can't
Won't
Don't
Isn't
Shouldn't
Wouldn't
Wasn't

I was able to type those out on the first try, with zero corrections. As have several other folks.

If your issues aren't solved with a keyboard dictionary reset, then it sounds to me like you need to restore and update your device.

I just don't want to lose all of the things my keyboard recognizes and remembers.

Then I guess your only choice is to just deal with the problem.

Since you're jailbroken, is there a way to manually edit the dictionary? Maybe there are words that it remembers that are causing this issue. You should post a thread in the JB section or have this one moved.

Autocorrect seems fine for me, however suggestions don't seem to work.

For example:
Wife - Thank you
Me - [using suggestions] Youre welcome

EVERY
SINGLE
TIME

Yes, and there is a bug in suggestions if you delete a word or part of one, and then start typing again, often it goes crazy. It will suggest stuff like "ZLhowd" or a mashup of your keystrokes.

That's not my impression. I've got the Apple keyboard back after using Swiftkey very briefly and immediately deleting it.

Also don't have any trouble with can't don't shouldn't wouldn't or any such contractions on the Apple keyboard. Picked up all those.

My impression is the JB is doing something it shouldn't.
