Why doesn’t my AWU 3 ever get 5G?

Doesn’t matter where I am, it never pulls a 5G signal and is always on LTE. My phone can be getting perfect 5G service but the watch will still only get LTE. Any ideas?

I would assume so. It’s the only watch plan that AT&T offers.

From a a brief look, a post on Reddit says at & t don’t have 5g sa or 5g redcap enabled yet for Apple Watch so you’ll be stuck to 4g for the time being.

Unless it’s changed from the post 3 weeks ago.

According to this PCmag article, AT&T's redcap service for Apple watch is now active.

I assume this is the Reddit post in question with some good info about redcap not being enabled yet. I have not been able to get 5G on AT&T either for what it's worth.

Must be AT&T because with T-Mobile I am having 5G in my U3.

It’s an AT&T problem. I haven’t gotten 5G on my AWU3 yet either. Hopefully Redcap keeps rolling out.

Same. It is an ATT issue. Completely false advertising. I’m in a heavy 5g area and large city. Never once shown 5g.
