You can use Touch ID with the App Store, iTunes, and supported 3rd party apps, so why not with the Apple Store app?

It seems silly that I have to enter my Apple ID password every time I want to buy something via the Apple Store app, or check my account, or check an order. Why no option for Touch ID?

Yeah man, option is right there in the bottom of your cart at check out.

Hmm. I didn't know it did it in the US via Apple Pay.

At least that means we'll get it when Apple Pay eventually launches in the UK.

Annoying that it needs that, though. The App Store and iTunes both support Touch ID without needing Apple Pay, why not the Apple Store App?

I have "settings > TouchID > iTunes & App Store" enabled, but even so about 90% of the time I get an app, Touch ID is not allowed and so I still have to enter my account password.

My issue is the lack of Touch ID support for the Apple Store App, not a problem with using it for iTunes and the App Store.

As for your issue, though, the iPhone will ask for the Apple ID password instead of Touch ID the first time you try and download from iTunes / App Store after a reboot. Do you reboot or shutdown your iPhone a lot?

I've been wondering the same thing. He's talking about the Apple Store app, the one where you can browse and buy Apple hardware and accessories. Every time I check my order status or login to my account I have to manually type in my password. That's just ludicrous considering it's a native Apple app. It should support Touch ID!
