Why doesn't the [html] tag work...?

From time to time I want to post some example html code (especially in the web design and development forum), but the

 tag[/URL] doesn't seem to work...

...so I usually have to resort to the [php] tag instead, which is acceptable, but not an optimal solution... :o

Any particular reason for it not to work...? :)

Edit: opps, nevermind I misread your post.

Didn't even know there was an HTML code. Maybe it has something to do with how MR has their vB configured.

Because then the

 tag[/URL], which I mentioned, is better and provides at least a bit of colour:

[php]	<td class="alt2" valign="top" nowrap="nowrap">
		<div class="smallfont">
			<strong>Welcome, Mitthrawnuruodo.</strong><br />

...like that... much nicer than:

	<td class="alt2" valign="top" nowrap="nowrap">
		<div class="smallfont">
			<strong>Welcome, Mitthrawnuruodo.</strong><br />

...but I still think a functioning

 tag would be better... :)
