Why doesn't the OS capitalize my words automatically with these settings?

Ultimately it's not a big deal, but given my settings, wouldn't you agree that my words should be capitalized automatically? It only works if "Correct spelling automatically" is on, but the UI makes you think they're independent settings.

If  intends capitalizing to be a sub feature of the autocorrect toggle, shouldn't they fix this UI?

MacOS has gotten so sloppy over the years. Looking forward to a snow leopard release .

In what app? These are not system-wide settings (despite what Apple wants users to believe). These settings only apply to a few random apps that happen to adhere to something-whatever (and not even all of Apple's own apps).
