In the pro-sound industry theres a saying "No highs, No lows, gotta be Bose"

Are you sure that isn't just a Bose advertising line? I worked for many years alongside the best UK commercial presentation companies (product launches, dealer presentations, etc.) and I don't recall ever seeing any Bose equipment being used.

Hence, the comment. (Unless, of course, I didn't get it.)

I read that as "Bose speakers only produce decent mid-range sound." And that, as a result, they aren't used much in the pro-audio business. (On a side note, I read somewhere that the marketing behind Bose products is good. I mean, they have their systems in a lot of good luxury cars.)

Back on topic, I've also heard great things about the Sennheiser phones mentioned before.

I have two pairs of Sennheisers, both bought as a result of 'Best Buy' recommendations in UK hi-fi magazines. The larger pair (HD480s -- probably superceded by now) are great on my home hi-fi, while the smaller (PX100s) sound almost as good and make good substitutes for iPod buds. I tend to use the 480s on my PB in the house. Neither are the closed type, but I don't really need them, as I fly only once or twice a year. I know Sennheiser do closed versions, though.

I tend to group Bose products with B&O -- nice designs, but aural under-achievers. Better performance is certainly available elsewhere for less money.

Thanks.

While I'm generally not a Bose fan, I recently sampled the Bose TriPort headphones at my local Apple Store and found them to sound surprisingly good. I prefer my Sennheiser HD600's, but I was pleasantly surprised by the TriPorts. However, I think they're a bit overpriced.

no they wont work i have tryed my cube speakers on a few macs and i ant get them to work, it's somthing to do with them requireing some sort of special high powered usb port

My Cube speakers work on my PowerBook, although the sound isn´t by far as powerful as when they´re connected to the Cube. So you´re probably right; the digital amp gets too little juice from the PB´s USB bus.

I am looking for some headphones. Bose look excellent but far to pricey.

Can anyone recommend any brands and models? Macally?

I like the idea of noise cancelling ones but are they really that good?

Buy.com has a really good sale going on now for computer speakers.
