Why don't apple use the iPhone screen as a trackpad?

I'd love to see that.

Imagine being able to customise what buttons you have, maybe incorporate the dock in there or something.

So many possibilities, I feel at the moment Apple are at the top o f the league against the competition at the bottom.

They need to kick it up a gear, get themselves into a higher league and really blow them out of the water in my opinion to continue to justify the 'Apple tax'

In my opinion they also need to bring a bit of 'pezaz' to the computer lineup, the under the hood improvements of Snow Leopard will be very useful but a little bland, something like this would have people coming into the apple store again to try them out.

Try downloading Air Mouse. It does just that. Even two finger scroll. 🙂

I would buy this in an instant. The iphone buttons could change depending on what application you are using. The only problem being that everytime a new iphone comes out with a slightly different design you would need to buy a new keyboard dock.

Just had a thought you could even use it as a trackpad on the keyboard.

Im using an app called "Touchpad" which turn the iPhone screen into a trackpad🙂.

It also has an option called "screenview", which projects the screen to the iPhone and i can access my umbp from everywhere basicaly.

Well when there was talk of "glass trackpads" on the rumor mill people went absolutely NUTS thinking that glass = see through + willy wonka = LCD trackpad. It would have been cool, but too distracting.

having a dock for the iphone in a keyboard might be a little bit clunky. Like what happens when someone calls?
