I have two externals that connect to my iMac but my new MBPro will not recognize them. There external lights act like they are connected but do not show on the desktop or the Disk Utility. Help. running Mavericks

with the computer on pull the power cord out of the external and put it back in. The external drive should show up. if it doesn't make sure finder prefernces says show external drives in desktop.

Or you could just open a Finder window or Disk Utility...

Well when my WD external is not recognized it is nowhere to be found. That is untill I unplug it and plug it back in. Then it pops up untill the next time I restart or sleep.
