I too hate facebook apps. Pets, drinks, super pokes, super wall etc are just plain stupid. It's almost like a game site. Ooh take these quiz to see your likeness with xxxx, take that quiz to compare your friends. It's a networking website for god's sake! But it is a great for its original purpose - network and talk to people that you usually don't talk to. Sometimes you're busy and don't see some of your friends during the day since you don't have the same classes as them, but you can catch up with them on Facebook. And you get a little gossip along the way ;):p:D.
I actually quite like the PM part of Facebook. It's much easier to read than passing emails back and forth, can have multiple people conversations, plus its private.

Facebook is the smarter, better looking, more responsible, grown up version of myspace.

Well...it was...with all the stupid apps now its just becoming a joke. Still on it a lot, its a great way of talking to people, but its getting to be enough with all those stinkin apps.

I've been on Facebook for a while and just simply am not interested enough to return. The pages are really cluttered and I can't find anything. It just irritates me.

I actually prefer LinkedIn for staying in touch with people. Its far more functional and actually could be of use sometime in the future!

Myspace is like Windows and Facebook is like OS X. They both generally do the same thing but one does it way more organized and simple.

Myspace is for anyone under 18 or older than like 30.
Facebook is for college students
Linked In is for the business people.

I hate the way Applications are implemented...I can't think of any better way, but they create a horrible experience due to the excessive need to scroll on my Macbook.

For now, I am not going to switch to another social networking site as Facebook has a large majority of the people I know as members.

I reluctantly quit using facebook 3 months back and surprisingly have never had to look back, it seems so creepy to me now

People need to stop complaining about the apps and how it's deterring them away. Yeah, they're not that great. But you don't have to use them. If you're scrolling it's because either you're using them or more likely your friends are. And in that case, get better and more sensible friends. ;)

My friends and I use it strictly for communication and keeping in touch. The only App we have is the travel map. And the others who do have apps have more sensible ones about politics or darfur or whatever not cheap throwing or happy hour junk.

Tagging photos is the best. Here's an example, both my brother and best friend got married this year and I was the best man at each. I didn't have the time or inclination to take any photos myslelf but by having all my friends and family tag me and themselves in all their photos I was able to put together a decent collection for home. Even print out a few.

Now that the majority of my friends are on Facebook I'm also seeing more and more people use the Invitation aspects of it to organise parties and other social gatherings.

The apps are childish. But hey, I'm 33

Oh seriously?! Lol. Then that makes sense about all your friends being on Myspace and not Facebook ;) Totally different demographics...

It's actually the opposite with me. More of my friends are on facebook rather than MySpace because MySpace is associated with viruses, spamming, hacking into accounts, and stuff. Their parents are much more comfortable with facebook.
