Indeed, it's a concern. But after explaining to customers the differences between FireWire and USB, many still say, "Oh well, it can't be that big of a deal." and shrug off the MB's lack of an FW port.
 
I'm not shrugging it off. My solution to not having firewire in the MacBook is buying an external firewire/usb enclosure and physically taking out the MacBook's hd to put what I need on it.

Not happy. I wouldn't mind spending more cash for the MBP, but it is TOO BIG for me as a laptop.
