Why has my new Macbook Pro started to feel... slow?

Can you check your activity monitor and look at "kernel_task", this suddenly increased to 20% or so when I started using c2f.

kernel_task will vary constantly in its usage, depending on the workload and apps/processes running on your system. It's part of OS X. It won't be meaningful to compare against mine or other computers, as I'm running a different mix of software, but mine is currently at 2.8% usage.
