Does it still ask you for your SMTP password ENDLESSLY if you try to use more than one gmail account in it at the same time lol...![]()
I had the same issue but I found out it's a Gmail issue. I believe I had to log into Gmail and "authorize" or "unlock it" by requesting a captcha, which then authorized OS X mail full access.
It was so frustrating, I tried everything from changing my password, removing and adding my Gmail accounts, but finally days of googling gave me the answer. I forgot to bookmark it but I'll look it up and post it when I relocate the info.
UPDATE: This isn't the exact article I read but it is the solution to the issue:
Topic : Mail client doesnt accept Gmail password
It isn’t Mail that rejects the password. It’s the server that either accepts or rejects it. Mail doesn’t care what the password is. It just tries to log into your mail account on the server using whatever username and password you’ve told it to authenticate with.
Mail often doesn’t correctly report what the problem really is, though. If Mail can connect to the server but cannot log into your mail account for some reason, it’ll ask for your password regardless of whether that’s really the problem or not. Don’t keep entering the password every time, because that’s not the problem (click Cancel instead, and take the account back online afterwards).
POP access to your Gmail account may be getting “locked” for some reason. You may try to “unlock” it as follows:
1. Quit Mail.
2. Go to http://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha
3. Fill in the form using your Gmail account information, and click the Unlock button.
