So last year i realized that if i traded in my 12 Pro Max i would get $800 for my trade in.
Regardless of memory you have it doesn't get any higher so it is optimum size.
I am seriously considering upgrading again (last year did 12 to 13, first ever where I upgraded after just one year) for 3 reasons:
1) New features, better video, screen brightness outdoors and the video action are quite interesting.
2) This is the best you will ever get paid for your old phone (in my case 13 pro max) although this year the trade in dropped to $720 from last years $800 for iPhone
12 pro max .I assume that is due to them not increasing the price of the 14 model. If I add $300 I get another year of warranty and I get a new phone with the latest and greatest features. If I wait a year my trade in value will probably drop at least $150-200 (guestimate). Btw I have the unlocked version so I can switch to prepaid if I travel abroad. So you could potentially get more in trade-in value if you sign up for a contract with an operator but I prefer to have optimum flexibility,
3) Battery life, I know they tested the 14 vs 13 and it was just slightly higher but here is my take; the 14 has been tested with iOS 16 while the 13 I bet is using old test data that was done with iOS15. iPhone 14 might be similar or slightly better but I suspect that once iOS16 comes out iPhone 13 will not perform as well and even more importantly battery life wise. The way I see it is iOS16 will demand more from the iPhone and the 14 will be better able to cope with increased demand and hence it can improve slightly or stay on par with 13 when looking at test data. But iPhone 13 I bet is using existing old data from having been tested on iOS15. I bet it will get lower benchmarks performance and battery life once it has been upgraded to iOS16. If not then how come the A16 will provide similar data as iPhone 13 if it is more energy efficient and has 15% higher performance? To me it is because the data for iPhone 13 is based on iOS15 and iPhone14 is based on iOS 16.
These 3 reasons, it is why I am seriously considering upgrading to 14 model.
I am really interested to hear what people think about my reasons, especially number 3 if i am off or not.
Thanks
