Why I feel jipped by the new iPhone 3G

I owned the original iPhone and loved it very much (though it was far from perfect), but the new 3G really lacked a lot of the little things that mattered.

1. Cleaning cloth
2. Dock
3. Extra connection cable
4. Earphone covers

I know I get the the GPS chip, 3G connectivity and is cheaper. But what's up with losing all the little nice things :rolleyes:I know i'm just being picky, but still it's a bit annoying.

The original never had earphone covers. Are you talking about the little black felt things that go over the earbuds? Yeah, it never had those.

Everything listed was removed to save costs.

What extra connection cable? The original only came with one.

A dock and a little slip / case would have been nice.

Mine came with a cleaning cloth - same as my Touch.

iPhone never came with an extra connection cable nor earphone covers. The new Apple Headphones don't need them because they have a rubber lining so they stick into your ears better, and you could probably buy them if you have to for cheaper than a $1. Also the cleaning cloth does come in the 3G Box.

The only downside is the dock, but they had to do that to make it subsidized and cheaper, all in all i think the iPhone 3G is much nicer!

1. There is cleaning cloth included. Check your box.
2. So you want those things instead of 3G, GPS & Apps? Stick to your old iPhone then why are you even complaining.

I got a cleaning cloth with both the original and 3G.
What extra connection cable?? My original and 3G both came with only 1 cable.
My original or 3G didn't come with earphone covers.

My 3G iPhone came with the following:

earphones (earbuds).
socket plug for the charger.
USB cord for the charger.
Black cleaning cloth.
SIM card ejector tool.

You may want to check your box again to see if you missed it. At least for me, it was kind of hard to miss the only black thing in a white box.

BL.

I got a cleaning cloth.

Edit: Well, at least I thought I did. :O

I'm almost positive I got one also.

What's in the Box
iPhone 3G
Stereo headset with mic
USB power adapter
Dock Connector to USB cable
Documentation
Cleaning/polishing cloth
SIM eject tool

The only thing they removed was the Dock. Something I don't agree with, but apparently they think that most people who want a dock have a universal dock, and would use that with the 3G insert.

Use some of the money you saved by the phone being subsidized to buy those things and you'll still come out ahead. With the exception of the dock, everything can be had for dirt cheap.

Ya, my bad lol. The earphone cover thingies I actually took from my old Motorola. It comes w/ a cloth!? I must have missed it.

I do miss the dock though, it's so nice. And the extra cable that allowed for me to connect to my laptop or whatever.

That's how it is with all apple products. Tons of extras in the beginning that go away over time. Be grateful, in a few years you'll just be getting a USB cable with your phone.

you cant take the cable out of your charger when you want to sync?

and also, is this the first apple product youve owned?
ive had so many iPods before that i wouldnt even care if there was no cable with my iPhone
ive got about 4 extras lying around

FFS! You're crying about some ear phone covers, a cloth (which you DID get but were too lazy to look), and a dock. Are you ***** serious?!

Let me ask you something. If I walked up to you on the street and offered you a choice between a $399 iPhone that has earbud covers, a dock, and a cloth or a $199 iPhone sans covers, dock, and cloth BUT had GPS, 3G, and a couple other cool new things, WHICH ONE WOULD YOU BUY?

Stop being a crybaby and get some perspective dude.

It's gypped, it's a reference to gypsies.

It did come with a cleaning cloth, it's under the user manual in the box.

The $399. I like the metal back, flatter back, longer battery life, dock, and because of a general lack of 3G in most of the continental U.S.

Besides, I got mine for free and won't be using AT&T anyway.

You're logic is flawed. 3G can be turned off and the iPhone 3G boasts better battery life in EDGE only.

So you're willing to pay $200 more for a phone w/ a metal back, flatter back, and a piece of plastic?

God bless you. I guess someone has to be ripped off.

You feel jipped even when the device was cut $200 or more, depending on when you purchased it. And if I remember correctly, to get a second dock in the past costed $49, while now it only costs $29. And I believe that the last iPhone or iPod to include the black earbud covers was the 1st Gen iPod nano, well at least they weren't included with the 1st Gen iPhone if it is any consolation. So:

1. It still does include a black cleaning cloth, check your packaging.
2. This was one of the major factors of the cutting of the costs. If you compare the cost of the original to the 3G with the dock included, then the savings are still $170 or more.
3. The original never included a second cable.
4. As I said before, no recent devices or current devices include those ear things.

So I don't think that you have much to complain about, figuring your only true claim is countered by the fact that the new phone is $170 or more less than the old phone.

The dock was useless. All it did was scratch the bottom bezel.

I don't agree with that at all. I love my dock and have both a 2.5 and a 3g non bottom scratched iphone bottom.

And I can see who is calling me and can press speaker etc. a lot easier then when it is laying flat on the table.

Why don't the people that are complaining just take back their phones? It has not been 30 days yet...just take it back and get your money back..
