Hasan-Can't tell you why, but just now I noticed that mine says "3.1.2, 3.1.3"--apparently BOTH SHSHs. If you can even open Cydia, that means you're not on 3.1.3, so in the meantime DON'T 'upgrade' to that version! Then you should be OK. Maybe wiser heads can answer your question here...

That message means that Saurik stored your 3.1.3 SHSH. When the next OS update comes out and Apple stops signing 3.1.3, you can always downgrade to 3.1.3 by pointing to Saurik's server. It has nothing to do with what version you currently have installed.

you knew that you can not access the cydia if you have 3.1.3 .. and I never have 3.1.3 in my iphone ... My Q is how Saurik get my 3.1.3 ver

I was hoping to get the 3.1.2 SHSH in case I have any problem I can get it back

I've got this same message. Will this allow me to do a restore on my 3.1.2 jailbroken 3GS if something ever went wrong with it? I'm staying FAR away from 3.1.3, so that's not an issue, I'm just wondering if it's safe to sync with iTunes and do a restore if I needed.

My guess is that it's not safe since the SHSHs are for 3.1.3, but I have no idea how this works. Sorry for the n00bish question but this is my first jailbreak, and I only did it a week ago.

You don't need to have an OS version on your phone for Saurik to request and store your ECID SHSH. The signature request is all done server-side. Once you click "Make My Life Easier," Saurik stores your ECID on his server. Every time a new OS version comes out, he will have his server request the signature hash (SHSH) for that version. Saurik has SHSHs for my phone for 3.0, 3.1, 3.1.2, and 3.1.3, even though I am sure I never actually ran 3.0 on my phone.

I know you were hoping to get the SHSH for 3.1.2, but SHSHs are not stored on your phone and there is no way of retrieving them since Apple's server stopped signing 3.1.2 install requests.

Saurik has begun storing 3.1.3 requests in case they become useful in the future. While it is currently not possible to jailbreak a 3GS on 3.1.3, it is possible that a way will be found in the future. It is also possible that a future upgrade might break some critical feature, causing some people to want to downgrade to 3.1.3.

I was jailbroken at 3.1.2, but it was after Apple stopped signing it. I needed to have my SHSHs (any, tbh) saved w/ Saurik, so I went ahead and updated to a pwned 3.1.3 ipsw and now it's saved.
Moral of the story, you CAN get on Cydia on 3.1.3

You don't need to upgrade to 3.1.3 to get your 3.1.3 SHSH saved. That's foolishness. I am on 3.1.2 JB and have never had 3.1.3 on my phone, but Saurik has my 3.1.3 SHSH saved. The fact is that he would have saved your 3.1.3 hash regardless, as long as you had clicked "Make My Life Easier."

Is this 3.1.3 SHSH going in stages as I don't yet see the 3.1.3 on my 3GS's. Just the older versions.

I just read on Saurik's Twitter feed that the queue was stopped by some sort of glitch, but that it is being re-run. He has over a million 3GSes on file, so it will take some time to download all of them. He said on his Twitter the other day that it may be the largest (public) man-in-the-middle attack in history.

Ngenerator, quick question, it seems by your sig that you have a 3GS? Is this new or old bootrom? I have the new bootrom, which is a tethered jailbreak. Im assuming I cant update to a pwned 3.1.3 ispw like you have, right? Thanks :)

I have the old bootrom (thank goodness). Sorry, but from what I've heard, you currently can't updated to a pwned 3.1.3 if you have the new bootrom. I would just hold out for now, as I'm assuming they're going to release some sort of exploit for the new bootroms once the new OS or phone gets released.

I'm not basing that on fact, just a guess. Good luck!:)

Thanks so much for the quick response, I figured that was the case, just making sure though :) I am on 3.1.2 and jailbroken on blackra1n, but my phone is new and wasnt able to save my SHSH files, so Im scarred if I have to restore. Which seems to happen a lot with tethered jailbreak, my phone freezes sometimes when installing things in Cydia that require a reboot. Usually the only way to fix it is to restore, so Im in trouble. Hopefully by the time it happens again something will have changed! Thanks again

If you have a tethered JB and the phone requires a reboot you dont have to restore it.
You just restart the phone using blackrain.

True, both my and wife's 3GS phones, both jailbroken on 3.1.2 have now stored 3.1.3 as well.

I know that, what happens though, and this has happened to me four times since December when I got the phone, is that the phone freezes and wont restart. So I press and hold the power button and the home button to do a hard reboot, run blackrain as usual to get it started, and then when it gets to the unlock screen, nothing happens. I cant slide to unlock or anything, it is in a frozen state. If I restart again, it just repeats the same process. The phone becomes unusable unless I restore.

The last problem I had with my phone was installing Firmware Faker 3.1.3 from Cydia, it completely destroyed my phone. After it restarted, it went to the slide to unlock screen, but instead of the regular slide to unlock screen, I got the symbol underneath saying I needed to hook it up to itunes, and if I slide the slider, it would let me only make emergency calls, without unlocking the phone. It just kept doing that no matter what I tried. I finally tried to restore it using my saved SHSH blobs, but Itunes kept giving me error 23. I gave up after 2 days and trying it on 4 computers, and just went out and bought a new iphone. I was going to just upgrade the broken one to 3.1.3 and sell it on ebay, to whomever didnt mind a phone that couldn't be jailbroken for now, but it wouldnt even let me do an official restore. Kept giving me the same error. So basically I have to take it to Apple this weekend and get a replacement and then sell that one.

Luckily the new Iphone I had gotten was still on 3.1.2., but since Apple isnt signing the 3.1.2 SHSH blobs, if something happens and my phone freezes on Cydia like the other one kept doing, I cant restore at all without losing my jailbreak.

Sounds like a hardware issue.

You are right on, I looked up the error code on Apple's own website, and it said that error code 23 is related to hardware errors. I knew this would happen to me, I just knew it. When Apple released 3.1.3, and Geohot and others were saying that people who upgraded to 3.1.3 were morons basically (I partly agree with that, not saying they are morons, but people are stupid to just upgrade blindly), and how they didnt want to release anything because it wasnt worth it to help people who messed up their own jailbreak.

Anyway, I kept saying over and over that even if you do everything right, what if your phone screws up and you have to get it replaced. You may not be able to jailbreak, and it's not really your fault. And sure enough, that is what is kind of happening to me.

Bad luck bro.
All you can do is bring it in for a replacement and hope for a 3.1.2 version pre-installed.
