Been using my 5S for over a month after selling my 6+ , it's actually been a better experience by far, the 6+ constantly crashed struggling with 1GB ram.

The 5s with iOS 9 is also getting a nice battery bump.

Heh. I went looking to see if there was a thread for people still clinging to the 4" form factor. (sorry, I still think both of the larger phones are too big). If I want a tablet, I'll use one. :)

I fully expect that in the coming phones Apple will slim the bezel and remove the home button to make a smaller phone with the 4.7" screen. I'm looking forward to that day.

The 5S is the best iPhone design by far.

I still wouldn't buy one at this point though...

So you mean the iPhone 5 is the best design by far.... the 5s is the same design, just better internals. I agree that the 5/5s had a great form factor. The 5 is my favorite visually because of the slate color. But then again, I do love the design of the 6 as well. Would be hard to pick!

I am moving from a 5S to a 6S. I am mixed about moving on, because I really really like the 5S' size (thinner and lighter would be good though). In the end, I was attracted to the better photos/vids of the 6S, along with features like Apple Pay.

While I appreciated the elegance of the 5/5s, I was already getting used to larger screens on my other line when it came out, and I felt constrained by the viewing area. Still, it all goes to show everyone is different, and you can only rely on official reviews and other people's opinions so much. Nothing beats going to a store and looking for yourself!

For me, going from a 4S to a 5 was a little problematic due to the length of screen. When in bed particularly, and many times otherwise, I would accidentally hit the back button (excellent touch response, Apple). I took a 5s last November, for few reasons.

1. While driving, it is easier to handle a 5s single-handedly.
2. I wanted a phone and understood the restrictions (there is no end to wanting larger screens, right?)
3. Portability is a huge plus.

The only phone that I can replace this with is a 6. I cannot use a 6+, first of all I don't like that big a phone, it looks like a slap on the ear overtime you use it (to me) and secondly due to my hand structure - don't have large hands. 6 is the maximum I can take in a phone. I have always been able to differentiate between a phone and a tablet and a computer screen. All have their uses. And in some ways, it is much better to use all of them.

Using cellphone at home to browse can be avoided if you have a tablet. Using a tablet means you get a larger screen plus don't get the very harmful radiation of cellular towers. So on. It is about effective and efficient use of technology, not just cramming and converging everything into one device, mindlessly - hence a phone, a larger phone, an even larger tablet, and now the super large iPad Pro.

same here. i really want the 6S for the better video capability and 3D touch. its nice that it is heavier/stickier too.

i really believe that the 5 was the nicest iPhone apple's ever designed. except the first black (the better colour) flaked off right away - if that black had stayed on, that would've been amazing.

I'm not super stoked about the design of the 6... so i bought a case to put it in from day 1.

I think i will miss the 5S size, but the apple watch + iphone in my bag should alleviate that concern...

I LOVED my 5s and my dad still does love his. Me and him upgrade to see models and our mom upgrade to the one in between.

I had to upgrade for very strange reason that it is small for me now?? I know this is weird. I just have to constantly zoom in into things.

My dad though sticking with his 5s more like it.

And yes I LOVED LOVED THE design and feeling of 5 and 5s.

I use a 5S as my iPod in the evenings, for music and a video here or there. It's a beautiful device and is actually better if laying back than the hard to hold 6. As others have said, it's a physically beautiful design. I also liked the black original 5 too, I have one of those as well, but don't use it regularly.

Still, for an out and about device, the 6 has been pretty sweet for me.

This year I'm trying the Plus. I hope I don't regret it. I think I have large enough pockets, I hope, most of the time.

The 6-series displays do look much nicer than the 5-series displays.

Another issue for me is LTE bands and VoLTE. iPhone 6S supports many bands (like the new Tmo Band 12 and Att Band 30), and the 5S doesn't. If I bought the older phone it would not be as future proof in terms of ability to get coverage.

Well if you are lucky enough to spend hundreds of dollars on hardware that is 2 generations old; and is first in line to lose support from Apple - power to you!

I suspect that iPhone 5S will continue to be supported as long as iPhone 6. Both have 64-bit processors and 1GB of RAM.

I would not advise anyone buying a 32-bit device (5C and older), but Apple no longer sells them so it is a moot point for new devices.

I'm actually considering upgrading from my iPhone 5 to a 5S. I could afford the 6S, but the 5S would save me a couple hundred $ upfront plus the cost of new case.

Nothing wrong in 5s at all. Runs iOS 9 like a champ. Only when you compare it to the newer ones do you see a difference, but that is true for anything; you will see the 6s falling behind 7 soon - countdown to next September has begun, right? :D

All in all, 64bit processor, Apple Health support with pedometer and run tracking, all apps run beautifully and it has a very nice Touch ID. LTE support is exceptional too, unless you need the newer LTE bands offered by the newer phones, as you pointed out in a previous post. If form factor is not an issue, and you do not need those new LTE bands, this phone was "Forward Looking" and still remains so. iOS 11 may create some issues, who knows. But at the moment, it is not lagging behind anything. Go ahead without a doubt for the 5s.

I upgraded my phone to a 6S+ yesterday, but I do a lot of video work so I kept my 5 as a small handheld camera (instead of a GoPro; useful for mounting in cars and carrying inconspicuously) and field audio recorder. It's perfect to connect a lavalier to and toss in talents' pocket.

I'd love to upgrade to my 6+, but I'm on one of those Sprint leases, so maybe next year when it's done I'll just buy it out and change.

Now that I have my 6S, I find it to be a huge upgrade from my 5S (especially since I got it virtually for free). It is much faster in every way, the Touch ID is phenomenal, the camera is awesome, 3D touch is very cool (and useful), and the form factor is acceptable. I had some angst about upgrading a perfectly good phone that I was very happy with, but this has been a total win.

6 and 6s are not that much bigger from 5/5s so yes, today they can be a perfect upgrade and in your case since you got it virtually free. For those of us who will have to pay full price, 5s is still a freakin device!
