Given that the iPad is a scaled up and more expensive iPhone but with the phone electronics removed, which must cost Apple almost nothing extra.

The iPhone much have a lot higher markup than the iPad as the iPad must be more expensive to make due to it's size, batteries etc etc.

No?

Well, Apple currently assigns the value of the 3G radio and GPS hardware for the iPad to cost $130. This is probably marked up vastly but that's what they charge for it.

The baseline iPad, compared to the iPhone 3GS (that was the current iPhone hardware when released, I think that iPad 2 will be more comparable with the iPhone 4) has no 3G radio, no GPS, and no rear camera.

Really, the iPad WiFi and iPhone are probably pretty close in costs. The current gen iPad is probably quite a bit cheaper than the iPhone 4 in costs because of the cameras at least, but the iPad 2 will probably bring them closer to being the same.

If you're really worried about the price, play the iPhone versions of the game on your iPad. You can full screen it and only lose a little quality...
