WTF, Apple?! Some of those were actually cool and unique.

I know you can download still images for the most part, but what about the live ones, such as the iPhone 13 Pro neon glow that lit up as the screen woke? Those were great and now they're gone.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

They've always done this, but the fact they now can have live functionality as well as dark mode and can't be easily manually replicated makes it worse.

This is terrible. The process for setting things up is baffling. Changing a wallpaper is baffling. And I can't have those real nice light/dark stock wallpapers on just my home screen anymore?

I'm seriously considering reverting to 15.7 and it's only been about 10 minutes. What a stupid "upgrade."

Yeah- was looking forward to using some of the older wallpapers with the widgets - is the idea most people have all the same vanilla looking wallpapers and lockscreens?

It took me so long to figure out that I couldn't add widgets / customize the clock using my default wallpaper... I had to choose a new one, and then also go thru add'l tweaking to set a different look for my homescreen...

Yeah what’s even more ridiculous is how the “Display & Brightness" setting still shows the default iOS 15 wallpaper for the Home Screen example which they have now removed.

Yeah, the new lock screen customization “features” are a bust and Apple should be ashamed for removing the default wallpapers. One potentially honorable change would’ve been to keep not only the wallpapers from iOS 15 but also add back remastered versions of all the classic, beautiful wallpapers since iPhoneOS 1.0 in celebration of/tribute to the history of our beloved lock screen. The clownfish was a real tease

I second this sentiment. I thought by setting the Live wallpaper exclusive for 11pro that I would be able to retain it.

Nope. Now I just get a still image.

Fuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Oh well. Life moves on. It was fun while it lasted.

Maybe Apple will hear the cries and give them back in a .1 or .2 update. Fingers crossed.

*But cautionary tale for anyone that hasn't updated yet*

Edit: Just discovered that Light and Dark settings still change the Water Swoosh 11pro exclusive. Give it a try for the 13 pro wallpaper.

I get that I can download the old wallpaper from many sites, Removing "Dark and Light" wallpaper from the actual device is a bit mind boggling. Removing parallax effect stinks IMO. Although old, the dynamic bokeh dots is gone (I believe this was still in the early Beta under collections...clearly didn't make the final cut)

Live Photos, well...you either loved it, hated it, or didn't care. RIP to that also. I've saved so many including the official Apple Live Wallpaper from phones going back to iPhone 7 which is pretty much useless now.

You can still animate the Live Photos in your photo album...and...that's about it.

I don't mind some of the new themes. Dynamic weather, the Earth, Moon, along with some of the widgets is a nice new look for now.

*The Emoji wallpaper in my opinion is just a cluttered ugly train wreck.

Yeah, I’m not feeling this… there was nothing wrong with the Lock Screen - just make it customizable. I thought I’d just be able to take my existing wallpaper and edit the text and add widgets to it.

Changing my default is bad enough, but the rest of the experience feels half-baked.

I already put my wallpaper on lock screen, customized it and feel happy :) smooth and clear

The dots wallpaper is still there. Though you're not the first person I've seen that couldn't see it right away for some reason.

Glad to find the level of uproar surrounding this. They've banged on about the lock screen as if it's the greatest thing since slice bread; presenting it as the flagship feature of iOS 16 and it turns out that it's a super tiny modest feature and, to add insult to injury they've culled, all the wallpaper functionality that everyone used to like. Thinking of downgrading (if that's even possible) because this is a bit of a sh*t show.
