Why include Lightning to USB Cable?

Friends,

Pardon me if I'm being daft (it's been known to happen), but why does Apple ship the new 4K ATV with a Lightning to USB Cable? There's no USB port on the device itself. Is it to charge the remote?

I'm a Gen2 owner, so if it's been this way for a while please forgive me.

Yup, to charge the remote. Which doesn't need charging very frequently fyi. We use ours daily and I think it lasts about 6 months.
