but that goes for all idevices. this also completely vexes me too. why cant we have a simple, fuss-free method of file transfer, even if there's no proper file system in place? (ie, something like usb). and no the Pro is around files will be even bigger.

personally, i'm going to make most of icloud and dropbox.

I think they leave this functionality off because they're afraid to cannibalize their sales of full-blown computers. but that tactic is going to bite them as they will be cannibalizing sales of iPads in favor of Surface tablets.

Well, they do "address" it, but not in the way people seem to want. iCloud Drive, Document Storage Providers, and iTunes file access were all attempts to address this.

And I really don't suspect this is because they are afraid of the Mac being cannibalized. It is more that they are trying to feel their way through the issues that the post-PC era poses without saying "let's do it how it's always been done". But what folks here are asking for is to be compatible with how they've been doing it. They are trying to avoid being trapped by existing design, but what people want is something more evolutionary in design from how PCs work.

I just WANT it!!

It's one of them ones ;-)

Seriously, my iPad 4 is sluggish now so it's time to upgrade. The iPad Pro came along at the perfect time, for me.

I've loved my iPad, but it's time to upgrade.

That 4 GBs of RAM will make the thing fly!

Not using it in any professional capacity, so for general use it will be unbelievably fast, smooth & fluid.

It's a day one, for me ...

I'm getting one because I can do most of what I need for my core tasks via native iPad apps, and having two side-by side would make my life a lot easier.

The other features are one heck of a bonus when it comes to content creation as some 2-D and presentation work looks like it would be easier on the iPad Pro vs. a comparable laptop in the same price class, plus I can fit it with it's own SIM-card for a data contract which I can use purely for work and therefore write-off.

I am hoping that the iPad Pro lives up to my expectations, as I have always found a mouse and keyboard to be awkward for design work, and doing it with a pressure sensitive tool directly on a screen that I can take anywhere is quite enticing.

Im not far behind you. The only computer i own is an ipad2 (my pc's are company property). I bought that the nano second Apple opened up the pre-orders all those years back.
I can remember i was like an impatient kid at Christmas. The wait honestly changed my life.

Now, desparate for an upgrade, the Pro comes along. Perfect timing. I was thinking of an ipad air 2, but hey, sod that :)

So yes, all that wait all over again to start off at year zero. Pencil and keyboard too. Bit of business, bit of pleasure. Awesome.

Actually, i probably cant wait more than anyone here :)

My ipad 2 will be retired to the bedroom, where my wife will take charge of it for her shopping needs on a sunday morning in bed :)

Except those don't address it. Who wants to or could move hundreds of MBs or GBs of data on and off their iPad from the internet? That's great for a 50k Word file but not so great with anything larger.

You missed the "quotes", the mention that they aren't making changes that folks like you are asking for, and the word "attempts". :)

Apple's thinking here is following a certain class of user, and it isn't either one of us.

I am thinking that with the big screen and 4 speakers it will be the baddest ass portable wireless Netflix machine on the planet.

Sounds like we are in very much the same position!

What an upgrade, eh!

I'll be getting the Silicone Case & Smart Cover (it appears they are not selling a complete Smart Case, which I have had on my iPad 4 since I bought it & I love the thing).

I'll not be buying "the" Pencil, as I can't draw! However, it's something I've always wished I could do so maybe I'll find a free drawing class online? Maybe even iTunes U, or uDemy will have something?

I'm going for a 128GB WIFI version, in Silver.

You?

I hope there's not going to be any problem getting one of these Pros. I think it's a bit of a "Marmite" product, so hopefully they won't sell out 2 minutes after pre-orders start!

And I agree with you, the whole process is a layer cake of excitement! Pre-ordering, anxiously waiting, then greeting the UPS driver!

Really looking forward to it ...

Stay in touch, and let me know how your pre-order goes :)

dont worry, i'll be here again the moment the pre-orders kick off.

yup, i'm getting a 128 silver too. space grey is too odd/boring for me, and gold is just, well, you know ;)

and no, i certainly wont be putting Marmite on it. (strange english habits i fear)

I want one.
I have no use for one!
I may well buy one.

However, I'm going to be REALLY annoyed if Devs down write cool things, inc games that REALLY take advantage of it.

If the iPad Pro only gets iPad air games to run and they look no better on the pro, as they refuse to use it's power, it may make me not buy one.

can you really see devs not utilizing the Pro's full abilities across the board? if a dev team are a dedicated business savvy bunch then yes, they must and will utilise the Pro to stay ahead of the game. there's 1000's of competitors out there, all looking to be the best and earn the most for the world's best tablet there is.
i cant really see the Pro loosing out to apps that devs cant be bothered creating or adapting can you? before long, Pro apps will be the norm.

Love to think you are right.....

Just wondering how many will have the balls to make games that push the "Pro" to the limits to run ok, but stutter and look poor on an iPad Air2
Safer for them to just make the same game work perfect on the Air2 and say, well, the pro has a slightly higher frame rate, and do no more.

We no longer have to say "November".

It's "next month" now ...

;-)

Urrrghgh ... Marmite!

I'm thinking it might replace my work provided MacBook Pro late 2008. But it just dawns on me that my office's networked Xerox and HP printers won't support it. They don't support my current iPhone or iPad Air 2.

This is a deal breaker for me. Is the IPad Pro really enterprise ready?

Not even close and will not be for 3-5 years or more. and because it runs iOS it will never be a real business productivity tool. No one except an Apple Store or retail employee could use it to conduct their entire day to day tasks efficiently, anyone owning this device will still need to have a real computer if they are in the bussiness/enterprise/corporate world.

This... iOS is not enterprise/productivity ready. It's more of a toy.

I find email via PDF, and iCloud collaborations extremely simple. If other people have any sort of smart device, it's very easy to share. So, I'll have to agree to disagree :)
