Why ipad so slow to charge?

My iphone takes what - 1 hour or two to go from 5 to 100%. I just plugged my new ipad into a charger this morning and 8 hours later it's at 54%, is something off? thanks.

Yep, which adapter you're using makes a huge difference. I even use the iPad adapter for my iPhone 6s+ because it's faster.
