I saw many videos showing an IPhone 5S running iOS 11... Man , it's so slow and laggy .... IOS 10 is way better on IPhone 5s than iOS 11.

Because iOS 11 is the latest iOS that iPhone 5s will get...but also it is in beta stage so this may be also an explanation...
For example...my iPhone 4( non S) struggled with iOS 7 but had no problem with iOS 6...

In fairness, iOS 11 is still in beta. But the 5s, for being almost 4 years old, it's still supported regardless, which even if it is laggy, it's not entirely unexpected, but at least it's guaranteed through iOS 11 for those who still choose to use it. I would still allow it to mature somewhat through the beta's before ultimately calling it laggy.

All A7 devices are pretty slow on iOS 11. I wouldn't expect A7 to be faster on iOS 11, but, I didn't expect to be this slow !!!! Imagining how laggy ,buggy and slow it will be on the official release.

Maybe iPhone 5s will continue the pattern . 4,4s,5s. It wont get better with subsequent updates. It wont make any faster , maybe less laggy , but slow !

I would expect iOS 11 to be the last update for the 5s. Usually the last update makes that particular phone slower. However the iPhone 5 ran pretty smooth up until it's last update. I think it will be slower on iOS 11 but the lagginess etc should be cleared up in subsequent betas.

It is a developer beta software on a 4 year old model. It is supposed to be buggy and slow. Why would anyone expect anything more?

Gotta be in it to win it
My anecdotal experience is that iOS 11b2 is faster than iOS 7 rtm. Ymmv, however is don't find ios 11 "laggy" or "slow". The flow of iOS 11 is commensurate with the a7 processor.

what does iOS 11 add to the iPhone 5s that justifies making the experience/performance worse? for those saying it is a beta, the 6s on 11b2 doesn't seem much different performance wise than it does on 10.3.2

They added a lot new api's and features sprinkles throughout the OS. Beta 3 you will see things will become smoother.

Even if iOS 11 gets optimized enough, the best bet for 5S owners is to maintain in iOS 10.

iOS 11 introduces a lot of local based processing runtimes, such as AI and localized metrics. It will for sure introduce added load to the OS even if very well optimized, which consequently will increase battery consumption. That for newer devices may not add significant load to have an impact, but for older devices it's a different story.

Let's see since a lot of that is offloaded to the GPU through Metal 2 and Core ML. I'm very curious to see the final performance, I mean if you compare a iPhone 5s to iPhone 7...well you see that it wasnt really until A8 when the phone gpu got serious horse power. The iPhone 5s gpu is ancient compared to the new ones found in A9+ devices. Funny considering at the time we all though iPhone 5s was huge and going to have long life, in reality even though 64bit the actual horsepower is a fraction of what the newer devices offer. TLDR A7 chip has not aged as we originally thought and most likely wont get iOS 12

It's funny ( is just like i laugh here in my profile picture) how these kids saying that the Final release of Beta/ Initial release of iOS 11 make the device faster.

I remember when i installed iOS 9 beta 1 on my iPad Air 1 and compared it to iOS 9 beta 10/ Official release i don't see any speed difference.

Sure the Final beta will be less buggy, but in performance or make it snappier? The answer is NO
The final beta make the device even slower than the beta 1 because they still add some new features from beta 1 to beta 10.

Meanwhile

iOS 11 Beta 3 is fantastic update for my iPhone 5S. After iOS 11 beta 2 app switching is kinda lag, and now my Saffari browser is fast as lightning! My iPhone 5S charge more quickly than previous beta.
At least try and keep your story straight.

You always get a feel for just how much your device has slowed down on the latest version of iOS when running the beta. While improvements do get made over time (I'm talking UI side, not bugs which is another topic), if you own an older device you can usually get a very good idea of just how much slower your device will be.

If it's an older gen device and lags/stutters, loads slowly on a beta, chances are it'll be near the same come final.

It's an old device, it's natural.

FWIW iOS 11 DB2 ran like crap on my iPhone 7 as well.

Back on iOS 10.3.3 and it’s great.

Both my iPad Pro 10.5s run iOS 11 just fine.

So I'm just wondering.. its so bad on your development devices that your forced to restore back? Can you even test your software on the beta? I would think you would just turn off the device and wait for the next beta.
