If you're wondering why the under-screen camera on the iPhone Duo's inner display isn't placed in the top-right corner, Chinese leaker Instant Digital has provided an explanation.

"The iPhone Duo's under-display camera wasn't placed in the top-right corner of the inner screen because of engineering difficulties," said the leaker in a Weibo post this morning. "The next generation will likely move it there, aligning it perfectly with the outer screen's camera." That sounds like a real engineering challenge, since the opposing rear cameras are the thickest things in the whole phone, but let's wait and see.

I have seen many videos and photos its a Glossy cut camera on a Matte Screen, ugh. Atleast they could keep it full mate.

It was a weird choice dumping it in a no-mans land in the middle-ish.

Setting the interactable UI elements (and one of the cameras) to the side is an inspired design choice but all the fiddly separate buttons of Liquid Glass get somewhat messy.

I don't really care where they put the camera on the inner display as long as they do the under display camera like Apple resurrected from the dead. I miss this feature on my Z Fold 8.

Is that also the reason why it's under-display? It would look infinitely better with a cutout like on the outer display aligned in the top right corner.

Not sure whether it will be possible in Duo 2 but a thicker camera plateau and a telephoto lens could be possible in two years time for Duo 3. Not going to buy the 1st generation Duo because of the lack of zoom lens, no FaceID and matte screen.

Lots of people going to blow their load on a subpar 1st gen Duo, only to be sad when the iPhone XX comes out this time next year. I'll wait patiently until then.
