add proximity sensors that that list
so I finally gave in and got a case to fix the signal issue, now I'm face-dialing left and right

Apple rushed the iPhone 4 to market with insufficient testing. It simply is not ready for prime time.

Apple was worried about the Samsung assault with their very successful Android Galaxy S model on each of the Big 4 carries in the USA. This is the first time that any major manufacturer has released their top of the line smartphone on AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint all in a matter of the same 90 day period. This phone has been very successful outside of the US, and now we are getting it here.

In addition, you have the new Motorola DROID X, and many other Android phones coming into the US between now and the end of the year. They are all eager to grab market share.

Android has been identified as Apple's biggest threat.

Thats why so many fanboys are badmouthing it on this forum.

I Disagree if the issues were this massive and not blown out of proportion there would be massive lines at the apple store of irate customers pissed over this.

There is not. What you do have are people who are really having issues with their iPhones. Some who are not like myself and some people who don't have an iPhone at all and are just joining in on the discord.

Technology is not flawless and all companies make mistakes. With that said the iPhone was not rushed IMO. And it's pretty hard to get a true estimate of how many people are really having problems due to Droid fans and Apple haters alike saying their devices are having problems when some people don't even own an iPhone.

This issue is like the shark attack coverage that the news networks provided when they covered it so much that you would think entire swaths oceans were filled with killer sharks when in reality it wasn't as many thought it was.

I dont think that's the case. When you read alot of the posts on this forum: yeah I know the phone reception sucks but its a great phone. Hello job one of a phone is to make calls. I love my iphone 3gs but its a weak phone great internet device sucky phone. my brother has a droid for calling it blows my phone away. Also its not att because I had a nokia before the iphone on att and never had a signal issue and my wife has a samsung no issue. I drop calls all the time. I use the skype app in the house so I can make a solid call. Apple has sold people on the idea not to be able to make calls doesnt means its a great phone. Its genus really.

one at a time:
a) Lost/stolen prototype leading to a public criminal investigation. who cares? bad luck, stupid employee
b) WWDC - iPhone 4 fails to work properly at demo. too many people in the room wifi'ing- again, so what?
c) White iPhone 4 delayed indefinitely due to manufacturing problems. pls supply proof of this
d) Major problems and crashes during iPhone pre-ordering. Not due to apple but ATT
e) The antenna issue. Bad PR on apple's part, IMO, but Consumer Reports declares it a non issue

What else you got?

1. Phone has a definte design flaw that can be constantly repeated when you are in a lower signal area. Like an on/off switch.

2. iPhone 4 does not include a test mode (all previous versions have).

3. Apple introduces 'bumper' cases. Apple has never made an iPhone case before. This case covers the trouble spots. CONVENIENT ISNT IT.

4. Apple PR is spinning Job's emails about the situation.

5. Apple just put up job ads for 8 RF engineers.

6. Apple is blaming the issue on signal bar displays being inaccurate. I dont care about signal bars, I care about apps not loading data because I dont realize Im holding the phone wrong. I care about having to think about how im holding my phone.

7. Apple is notorious for product secrecy, and all of the iPhone prototypes found, pictured, etc all had cases on them to disguise them. This may have shot them in the foot with field R&D.

Anything can be argued for the sake of being argued. I prefer facts. I love my iPhone 4, and Id like Apple to fix it once they get off their high horse.
