I'm glad they are because it has an untethered jailbreak, but any idea why when 7.1.1 is also compatible and being signed on Apple tv 2? Maybe they just can't be bothered/ not as much demand or care for them to patch up jailbreak on that?

In any case, I am glad.

Found my family's ATV 2 on 5.0.2 with stream issues on netflix (bad picture quality, defaulting to spanish every time on House of Cards), hoping this resolves it.

Apple TV and iOS software versions don't line up.

Not sure where you're getting 6.1.4, but as far as I can tell the most current Apple TV software version is 6.1.1 (released in April). This is the equivalent of iOS 7.1.1.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question.

The OP is referring to the equivalent iOS version.

I've been wondering the same thing.

The only reason I can come up with is that bug that bricked people's updates to 6.x.x. Maybe Apple's keeping 6.1.4 around as some sort of life-raft for those folks?

Though you'd assume they'd be able to just restore to 7.x?

The 6.x.x are in-essence iOS 7 for the AppleTV. Apple has never kept the version number = to their iOS counterparts. Why? who knows. Who cares. Just check to make sure you are on the most recent version and that's all that a user needs to worry about.

This always baffled me but I believe there's a version newer than 6.1.4 that's not beta being signed alongside this now older version. Right?

In any case, to have HBO go and xbmc on same box (relative to not on what I believe was 5.3) is great!

13.1 Gotham is such a great build!

thadogfather is correct, Apple is signing both 7.1.1 (current) *and* the older 6.1.4 firmware for ATV 2
