Why is clicking extremely unresponsive in leopard?

Let's say I click on the Finder dock icon and then I go to click the FireFox icon, the icon doesn't register a click. This is the same with everything

System Settings --> Keyboard and Mouse --> Trackpad Tab.

What is your Double-Click Speed? Varying that will cause a delay between you being able to click consecutively.
