So we're only allowed to come to MacRumors to gloat and high five then? An iPhone devotee isn't permitted to debate issues he or she may have? They should just immediately go out and buy an Android phone without a whimper?

But no one is debating. It's literally just thread after thread and post after post of complaining.

I wasn't trying to start a debate with that statement, I was just pointing out that some people would be a lot happier if they weren't trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Maybe Android is worth a look for some people that aren't really happy about the new iPhones, or iOS in general.

There are a lot of great Android phones out there. The new Moto X looks like it's going to be a game changer for Motorola/Lenovo, and then there's the Nexus announcement to look forward to.

Maybe because all of the apple devices with 1gb or less out right now (ipad, iphone) have tab reload issues and many low memory crashes and app refreshes?

Besides its a forum what in the hell do you expect people to talk about? Might as well not talk about the phone at all right it's not released yet after all!

Yeah but seriously, if the problem is really that bad for you (it's not for others, as you've seen) then what are you still doing here? You know that the 6 is going to have 1GB of RAM, so if the problems are that pronounced for you what good is it doing anyone for you to remain here complaining about memory?

What you're really doing is ******** on everyone else's parade. And you have to recognize that people aren't going to respond positive to that.

Actually no, we don't know 100 percent that it has 1 gb of RAM, you just really want a echo chamber? No dissent at all? Hahahah raining on everyones parade by questioning a decision of a company that I may throw down about a thousand dollars on this month, yeah that's just stupid why would I do that?

Listen buddy not everyone is content with slurping up the s*** from apples hole, I come here to discuss the phone, discuss possible issues, express concerns etc. I've had my 4s for a pretty decent while now and I'm planning on upgrading to the 6 or 6+ but if it turns out to have 1gb of RAM i'll have to question the decision harder.

I didn't want to get a non-iPhone and I'm kinda bummed. It isn't like I'm starting random threads about this RAM issue, I'm merely joining in when the topic is discussed. Once RAM chat disappears, so will my voice on the subject.
I am still holding out some hope that the 6+ has two gigs, but if not then I will research Android phones - and with a heavy heart. I may end up loving them and not wanting to come back, or I'll be eagerly awaiting the 6S release. Who knows. Right now though, with lots of threads around at launch time, I'm still venting because I'm annoyed with Apple. Very annoyed.

I truly don't care if you write an op-ed in the New York Times about how upset you are about the RAM; it doesn't affect me one way or the other. I just don't get the continual harping on the issue and then "throw[ing] down about a thousand dollars" on something you're not even happy with when there are literally dozens of alternatives that would have the memory you apparently need. Once you pay for something, you've voted with your wallet to support the decision, and everything you say is meaningless.

We're all hoping it has more RAM. I think the point of his comment was that there are already several dozen threads on this topic to choose from. Adding another one just adds more noise.

Sure, but you have to understand that many people feel the converse is true as well: once you spend a grand on a product you've purchased the right to be critical of it.

Nowhere did I say RAM was the only thing you have to consider while buying a phone, otherwise I'd go out and buy a samsung note, and I hate samsung.

You are deliberately misinterpreting what I've said and constructing a horrific strawman. RAM is very important and it is the thing that concerns me the most with the new iphone, that doesn't mean it's the only damn thing I'm going to consider.

Again, more likely a software than a RAM problem. Desktop computers with far more horsepower than the current iPhone ran on 1gig of RAM a scant few years ago.
What is a "scant few years ago"? I think my video cards had 1 gb of VRAM a few years ago. I had to seriously go back a look as to when computers could actually get by on 1 GB of RAM. Realistically, not bare minimums. Vista in 2007 required 2 GB, realistically, to be a decent machine. I'm not getting into the RAM debate for the iPhone, and I don't necessary disagree with your assessment. But 1 GB a 'scant few years ago'? This is 2014, not 2007.

Do you even know what a strawman is? You are the one who is committing a logical fallacy not me. Nothing I've said can be interpreted as a strawman.

A straw man argument is when one tries to deflect or hide ignorance by crafting a response that misrepresents the original argument and then attacking that misrepresentation.

But I posted a picture of an actual straw man! Get it? You're wound too tightly, bro.

What was the point to the picture? You didn't even deny that you constructed a strawman you just posted a picture of a strawman, is that a joke?

Because less than a decade is SO long. How old are you?

Understood. For the record, I didn't respond to you to call you out; I was truly commenting on the mass of people that are interested in nothing but complaining. From this discussion, it is clear to me that you just want a device that meets your needs- and you're not sure if the iPhone 6+ will do that. Different from complaining just to complain, which is still what I feel like a lot of people are doing.

That said, consider giving the 6+ a try, even if it means returning it to the Apple Store within the two-week time frame. You'll feel a lot better about researching Android phones if you know that the iPhone isn't going to cut it for you. That's just my two cents though- I wish you all the best.

You shouldn't be annoyed. You do not say what your upgrade cycle is. You imply you'll go over to Android or some other alternative, then maybe come back. It sounds like your cycle is short. If you upgrade regularly, even every two years, the amount of RAM is a non-issue, IMO. Get the product, be it a car, computer or phone, that fits your needs TODAY. By the time RAM issues show up down the road, you'll have upgraded anyway.
To my way of thinking, the amount of RAM only puts the phone that much closer to obsolescence. An that is the biggest if not only issue, IMO. However, we'll all be out of these in a couple of years and it won't be our problem. And most people here KNOW they will be out of the 6 and into an 8 when it rolls around. Over building phones for the sake of over building them is a fools errand and Apple knows it. So they build their devices for today and they give that experience today. The upgrade train is going to keep on chugging. Apple's (and all the other gadget makers) bottom line depends on it. So enjoy the ride :)

You're the one throwing words, RAM, and time frames around. Not me. Back'em up or correct them if it's important. Otherwise, I think I cracked 1 GB system RAM around 1995? 1998?? I honestly can't recall. But these were hobbiest machines, not what could just get by or even what was needed. But c'mon, 1 GB 'a scant few years ago'? Here's a trick, if you are getting older, start multiplying everything by 2 when you recall memories. You'll be amazed at how much water has flowed under that bridge without even noticing it went by.

Exactly. Software problem.

But, as we all know, Apple has a poor track record when it comes to squashing long standing issues like this one, so no one should be surprised when two gig of wired RAM gets added... and Safari still acts exactly the same way.

Like that ghost contacts problem (when you type in a deleted contact's name in imessage, it will still show up with the number, even if that person's been deleted years ago) ..it's still not fixed in iOS 7. Not sure about iOS 8, we will see...

Well, it's a good thing you aren't exaggerating and adopting an insulting tone to "support" your rebuttal, because if you were that would make it significantly less compelling.

Alright brother, look. All I saw of your posts here was complaining about the RAM. I apparently erroneously extrapolated that RAM was a serious issue for you, and then when you were clearly getting more lit up over my comments than I intended I tried to lighten the mood with a joke. You're obviously very serious and aren't in the mood for any frivolity, so I'm just going to apologize for upsetting you and wish you luck in whatever purchase you end up making.

I didn't understand that that was a joke, and I still don't but okay.

It seems ridiculous how everyone is jumping to conclusions when the phone hasn't even been released yet

By 'everyone' you mean MacRumor users.

Outside of here, its hard to believe but they're normal,

But imagine a world where people get whatever phone they like and don't hate on others or complain about random crap like 1GB of RAM, why Apple screwed me over, etc.
