I went and inspected location services to see if the stuff I switched off in iOS5 were still off, and they were, but then i see Genius Apps turned on, and a GPS grey icon next to it....just curious why that needs GPS location. Just curious because I am overly cautious of stuff using my GPS since the iOS5/4S battery drain or leak
As far as I can tell, Apple is keeping tracking of where you run certain apps. I turned on so I can see when system services are using the GPS and it turned on briefly when I ran Amazon Cloud Music. When I checked Genius for apps had just used location services. I have no idea why Apple needs to know this information since the location an app is used has nothing to do with recommended other apps. The fact that they are collected location data is not specifically specified in the terms and conditions.
