One of my projects did this the other day.

My only solution was to empty the iMovie trash, restart, and re-render everything. It worked fine the second time.

So basically:

1. empty the trash in the imovie project
2. Restart the computer or imovie?
3. Start over and repaste it? Or do you mean just make a new project and trying it in there.

And thank you for the help

What kind of clip is right after it freezes?

Is it a title, or a video, a picture maybe? Do you have a transition there?

well the videos were originally gif images but they were converted into m4v files, and then I use an order to make it work. For some reason, at one of those clips, it goes out. I made one before the next 2 and it was just fine.

the other 2 had a clip freeze and it went out. Now, I did try deleting it and then another one froze when I exported it. It is really weird.

All the clips that are freezing are converted m4v files? Do any of the m4v render correctly before it freezes? I'd try converting those files to a different format before putting them into iMovie.

I had this happen to me one time too. I had a few video clips i recorded with my canon still camera, and the first clip worked fine, no freezing, but the second clip kept freezing just the same way. I got around it, however it was a bit time consuming. I just made a new project, and converted that clip into a h.264 format at a higher resolution, then used the h.264 one instead of the original .avi. It worked, but i dont know why i had to do that since many other clips from the same source worked fine.
