While I along with everyone else obviously are not sure what amount of RAM is present, I did read an article where they interviewed one of the guys who created Siri, and he did say that in order to run it they way they really wanted to you would need the power of the A5 processor and 1 GB of RAM. Maybe someone else can coo borate this. I can't remember where I read this if it was on MacRumors or another site.

Nah, I don't really care about Siri. I like it but that's pretty much it. The reason I mentioned Siri was because it's a 4S exclusive, and the RAM should at least be 1GB in order o run smoothly between Siri and the use of other apps.

Wouldn't user experience be better if the phone had more RAM?

Ah, so you are playing "Pretend Apple R&D".

The thing about RAM, is that there is a point where it's not cost effective to just keep adding more RAM when it's not needed. Leave that decision to the Hardware and iOS developers. As iOS and Apps get more memory hungry, Apple R&D will make changes.

Imagine a world without specs. Seriously. No Hertz, Bytes, Pixels, Contrast ratio, Ounces, Frames per second, etc. How would we ever differentiate one gadget from another?

Even if it has only 512MB, iOS is very efficient when it comes to memory management

I would be out of a job.

Why?

Because Apple wants to stop consumers from buying devices based on mostly irrelevant specs. So they get lots of people to buy devices while keeping the spec a secret. This trains customers to stop caring about unimportant numbers.

According to early reviews, the 4S appears to run apps more smoothly with voice recognition commands being more useful, than with other devices. Some hypothesize that this is because the 4S has 1GB of RAM (and not just more unicorn dust).

When iFixit gets their hands on a 4S later next week, this hypothesis can be verified.

don't let this clown fool you, it clearly will.

Ignorance abounds.

If it's that important to you, wait for the ifixit article, then cry about it.

Bottom line - if it impacts your purchasing decision, you should probably be using Android anyway.

PC's require the use of specs to lure people in. Mac products don't need to advertise because "They just work".

its not my purchasing decision that it affects!!!! I'm just stating the obvious 1gb would be better, this isnt subjective like "4inch screen vs 3.5" its a fact.

It would only blow if the phone's performance suffered. There is no indication of that yet.

Yeah , but you can accomplish more with 1 gb.

Also if the ip4s has 512 ram it means the phone will use more memory than ip4(while having the same amount of ram) because it's running Siri in the background , and MIGHT be slower in some cases.

Then why bother with this iPhone? Go complain about the important things in the crappy android forums!
