Why is my backlight not working?

Whenever I try to change the brightness of the backlit keyboard the little transparent thing square comes up but I can't do anything.

Has this happened to anyone else? How do I fix this?

That's the first thing I'd do.

Actually it was because it was really bright outside. Put your hand over your iSight camera and it should work again, if you had the sam problem as me.
